After working in commercial real estate in Chicago and Charlotte for 10 years, Jennifer returned to her hometown in upstate New York in 2007 to work alongside her father, Karl Messmer. Karl's 30-plus years in the financial services industry provided much guidance and support to Jennifer. In 2012, she purchased his practice and rebranded it as Sharp Financial Services. In January 2019, Jennifer relocated the business to Greenville, SC.
Jennifer works with both individuals and small businesses and understands every client is unique and deserves an individualized approach to his or her retirement planning, estate planning, risk management or business planning. Her number one priority is educating clients, enabling them to feel confident about their financial decisions, and their comprehensive financial plan. Jennifer also understands that as clients' lives change, so do their financial planning needs. Continued review and communication are key to a sound client/advisor relationship.
Jennifer is a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington and is licensed in Life, Disability and Long Term Care Insurance along with holding FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 Securities registrations. In 2012 she received her Certified Financial Planner™ designation, in 2020 she received her CPFA™ (Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor) credentials and in 2022 she received her BFA™, Behavioral Financial Advisor™ designation.
Jennifer along with her children, Rian and Benjamin, enjoy living in sunny Greenville. She spends as much time as possible outdoors hiking with her dogs, playing pickleball and walking along the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Jennifer is an avid NY Giants and Syracuse basketball fan.
